Bore da! Croeso y Cymru! You may be relieved to know that you don't need to speak Welsh to study in Wales, although we encourage everyone to give it a go. Students from all over the world a very warm welcome to this Great part of Britain. Wales shares many attributes with the rest of the UK – a magnificent coastline and national parks, a rich cultural and industrial heritage, warm and welcoming people. What makes us unique is that Welsh is the oldest living language in Europe, Wales has more castles per square mile than anywhere else in Europe and remains a relatively undiscovered jewel in the British crown so we retain a strong sense of identity and hiraeth. Swansea University is located on the beach in the lively city of Swansea, only three hours from London.
